INDIANAPOLIS — A pesky upper level low will spin over central Indiana today. That means that there is enough disturbance in the atmosphere to create areas of drizzle and downpours at times.
A few thunderstorms are possible but no severe weather is expected. Friday will feel unseasonably cool with afternoon highs only climbing into the upper 60s, running about 10 degrees below average.
A few lingering showers will continue into middle of Friday evening. The skies will clear out overnight and temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to near 50°.
The holiday weekend will be much better. Dewpoints will fall into the low to mid 40s.
Saturday will be sunny and pleasant for the 500 Festival Parade, which steps off at 12 noon ET on WTHR. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 70s.
Saturday evening will be pleasant, too, with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s before midnight and then into the upper 50s by race day morning.
The wind will increase from the south on Sunday, which will make for a sunny and hot Indianapolis 500 with winds reaching 10 to 15 mph during the afternoon. Temperatures will soar into the mid 80s.
Memorial Day will be warm, breezy and sunny. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s.
