INDIANAPOLIS — It will be another mainly sunny day on Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s.
It is opening day at IMS ahead of the Indy 500. The big race is less than two weeks away. Gates are open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday for the first day of practice. Take the sunscreen.
Take advantage of the dry day, because rain and storms are back on Wednesday. Right now, it looks like two waves, one early in the day and the other Wednesday afternoon and evening. A few storms may reach severe limits, so stay weather aware on Wednesday.
There is a slight storm chance on Thursday, but the big weather story for the end of the work week will be the heat. Forecast highs are back into the lower 80s on Thursday and the upper 80s on Friday.
Storm chances are back for late Friday and the start of the weekend.
