WTHR journalists honored with '2023 Best of Indiana' awards from Society of Professional Journalists

INDIANAPOLIS — Every year, the Society of Professional Journalists honors local news outlets with awards recognizing outstanding achievements in the field of journalism.

On Friday, SPJ honored 12 WTHR 13News journalists with first place medals, three second place recognitions and four third place awards.

The awards were part of the SPJ's "2023 Best of Indiana."

Here's the full list of WTHR award winners:

  • Best Newscast (Indianapolis market)
    • 1st Place - 13News at 11 – 13News Team (11 p.m. the day the Richmond fire started)
  • Best Use of Social Media
