Police make arrest in stabbing death of northeast Indiana teenager

AUBURN, Ind — Police were investigating the death of an teenager in Auburn, Indiana, Thursday.

Indiana State Police said they got a call reporting a stabbing around 2 p.m. May 23.

Blake Boese, 17, of Auburn, was pronounced dead at the scene, an ISP spokesperson said.

Initially, police said a 19-year-old had been identified as a person of interest and had been taken in for questioning. Later, though, detectives arrested a 21-year-old from Auburn, saying they believed he was responsible for the stabbing. 

The suspect was taken to the DeKalb County Jail and held on a preliminary charge of murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. Police said their investigation is ongoing.

Auburn is in DeKalb County, just north of Fort Wayne.
