1 killed, 4 injured in separate Indianapolis shootings in 4 hours Sunday night

The shootings occurred between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. May 5.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after five people were shot in Indianapolis in a four-hour period Sunday night. Two people were killed and three were injured, one critically, in the shootings on May 5.

EDITOR'S NOTE: IMPD determined the person who was injured around 10 p.m. in the 300 block of North Hamilton Avenue did not sustain a gunshot graze wound.

Man injured following northeast Indy shooting

Shortly before 7 p.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of Jamestown Court, near East 46th Street and North Arlington Avenue, for a report of a person shot.

Officers located a man with a gunshot wound(s) who was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

IMPD initially said the man was pronounced dead at the hospital. However, on May 14, IMPD confirmed the man survived his injuries.

Officers detained two people of interest at the scene who were cooperative with detectives, a police spokesperson said in an update Monday. They were later released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

"This appears to be an isolated incident with no further threat of harm to the public at this time," the spokesperson said.

Man killed in shooting just south of downtown Indianapolis

Shortly before 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of South Illinois Street, just south of downtown Indianapolis near West Morris Street.

Officers located a man with an apparent gunshot wound(s) who was pronounced dead at the scene, IMPD said.

On May 6, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 28-year-old Cameron Bradley Harmon.

Police have not shared any additional information on the circumstances of the shooting.

2 hospital walk-in shooting victims

Around 9 p.m., officers were called to Community Hospital East at 1400 N. Ritter Ave., near East 16th Street, for a report of a walk-in person shot.

Officers located a victim described by an IMPD spokesperson as "stable."

Roughly half an hour later, officers responded to Eskenazi Hospital at 720 Eskenazi Ave., near West Michigan Street and North White River Parkway Drive West, for a report of a walk-in person shot.

The victim at that hospital was reported to be in critical condition.

Police have not shared any additional information on the circumstances of either shooting, including where they may have occurred.

1 injured in east Indianapolis shooting

Roughly an hour later, around 11 p.m., officers responding to a report of a person shot near North Gladstone Avenue and East New York Street, just east of North Sherman Drive, found a victim who was described as "stable."

Police have not shared information about a possible suspect or motive at this time.
