MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. — The arrest of a southern Indiana man on child pornography charges led police to the discovery of 10,000 rounds of ammunition stolen from the U.S. military.
Timothy Guy, 76, of Martin County, was sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, receiving stolen U.S. government property and possession of child sexual abuse material.
In 2018, Guy was found guilty of possessing child sex abuse material after he was caught viewing the files at a Wendy's restaurant while on the free Wi-Fi.
In April 2021, a community corrections officer conducting a routine sex offender check found an unregistered computer in Guy's home, and he admitted to having flash drives with child phonography.
A Martin County Sheriff's deputy assisting found more than 250,000 child pornography images, and Guy was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material.
After Guy's arrest, state police investigators and Martin County sheriff's deputies searching his property discovered a cellar with a "large amount of ammunition and other material," the Department of Justice said. Investigators later found 10,000 rounds of ammunition valued at over $1,000, along with five guns.
According to court documents, Guy worked as an explosives handler at the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division from 1966-2004, and falsified documents to make it look like the ammunition had been destroyed, while he stole it.
Guy was ordered to be placed on supervised probation for six years after he is released from federal prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Department of Defense, Criminal Investigative Service, Indiana State Police, and Martin County Sheriff's Office.
