INDIANAPOLIS — One could argue that today is not only the "pick-of-the-week" but the "Best Weather Day Of The Year" in central Indiana. It's hard to argue with sunshine, mid-70s, and a lower Muggy Meter of dewpoints in the 40s. We'll let you be the judge, but it's getting our vote.

Either way, take advantage of a sunny ending to the 8th wettest April on record in Indianapolis. Rainfall this month in central Indiana was 3"-4"+ above average with some areas near/above 8". The weather today is just what the doctor ordered and will be the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities this evening... especially when compared to 24 hours ago.

The month of May in central Indiana begins with only a slight rain chance in the morning, warmer highs in the 80s, and another mainly sunny sky. This is just scratching the surface of even warmer air ahead for Thursday with highs well in the 80s as we get into the warm sector of the latest storm system.

That weather system brings a cold front into the state on Friday and as it teams-up with a moistening lower atmosphere expect scattered to numerous rain and thunderstorms.

The bulk of the rain with that front is expected to move out of the state by sunrise Saturday morning. But we should note that's subject to change and some modeled trends are a bit more humid (dewpoints in the upper 50s vs 40s) in the past 24 hours. We'll continue to monitor and update as needed.
