INDIANAPOLIS — It will be an unseasonably mild Christmas Eve. Temperatures will rise all day, eventually climbing into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees by midnight.
It won’t be record-breaking, as the record high is of 68 degrees was set in 1889. It will be cloudy and breezy today with winds gusting around 25 to 30 mph. Areas of patchy drizzle will be possible this afternoon into the evening.
Temperatures will hold near steady during the overnight, hovering in the upper 50s. Rain becomes likely with a few isolated thunderstorms possible. Winds will also be breezy, around 10 to 15 mph sustained winds.
Showers will taper off by late morning into early afternoon on Christmas.
The warm surge of air will allow temperatures to climb into the low 60s by late morning. The record for Christmas day is 64 degrees, set in 1893.
This year's Christmas will likely be in the top 3 of warmest Christmas’ on record. Temperatures will slowing fall the rest of the day but only falling into the mid-50s by late afternoon.
