Ohio woman killed in Shelby County crash

Two Cincinnati women were heading east from Shelbyville when they struck a tree Thursday morning.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — Shelby County is investigating a deadly crash Thursday morning east of Shelbyville. A Cincinnati, Ohio woman was killed.

The crash occurred in the 4200 block of East Michigan Road southeast of Shelbyville around 9 a.m. 

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Tera Doane Minyard, 39, of Cincinnati, was driving a Chrysler minivan east on Michigan Road near State Road 244 when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a tree. 

The passenger in the van, Ronda Purdon, 52, also of Cincinnati, died at the scene. 

Minyard was flown to Indianapolis for treatment.

The crash is still under investigation.
