LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Lafayette high school student was arrested for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to school Tuesday.

Lafayette police said officers started receiving phone calls from parents about the threat, which was reportedly made by the student on Snapchat. The student allegedly said he would bring a gun to Jefferson High School on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Another student reposted the Snapchat on a community Snapchat associated with the high school, the Lafayette Police Department said in a release.

The 15-year-old male student was located at 10 p.m. Monday and arrested on a preliminary charge of felony intimidation.

Investigators believe the student acted alone in making the alleged threats, and police did not believe there was any danger to the high school now that the student has been arrested.

Earlier Monday, Indiana State Police assisted several school corporations in response to a series of alleged bomb threats sent by email early Monday morning.

At least two schools were evacuated in Adams and Cass counties because of the threats, and Zionsville school officials confirmed to 13News that schools in their district were included in the threat, though students don't return to class from winter break until Tuesday.

A school official told 13News police searched and cleared all buildings in the school district Monday.
