Woman arrested after alleged social media threats prompt cancellation of Fayette County school activities

The Connersville Police Department received reports of a threat around 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — A Connersville woman was arrested after allegedly making social media threats that prompted the cancellation of school events in Fayette County.

Around 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, the Connersville Police Department received several reports of a threat made on Facebook by a Connersville resident, and several Fayette County School Corporation activates were canceled or suspended as a result, the department said.

A SWAT team took the person who the Facebook account belonged to into custody "within the hour of these threats being made," Connersville police said.

A search warrant for the home of the person led police to illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. No weapons were found, police said.

A 62-year-old Connersville woman was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of paraphernalia and intimidation (making a terroristic threat).

NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.

While serving the search warrant, police arrested a 47-year-old Connersville man on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after he allegedly refused to exit the home.

An investigation into in the incident is ongoing.

"At this time, there is no further cause for concern in regard to this incident and no further details can be released," Connersville police said in a statement.

Connersville is roughly 70 miles southeast of downtown Indianapolis.
