Indianapolis offering free annual bikeshare passes to residents

Registration requires a valid Marion County residential address. An access code will be sent via U.S. mail.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis residents now have a chance to get around downtown quicker at no additional charge.

Beginning May 9, residents of Marion County can register for a free annual "IndyRides Free" pass for Pacers Bikeshare

The pass' launch comes as the program adds 325 new bikes for public use. The white e-bikes can be found next to the classic gold bikes at the 50 bikeshare stations and can be checked out via the BCycle mobile app.

Registration is available here and requires a valid Marion County residential address. An access code will be sent via U.S. mail.

"The free annual pass program for Marion County residents is incredible," said Dr. Virginia A. Caine, the director and chief medical officer of the Marion County Public Health Department. "Anything we can do to encourage and incentivize more physical activity is a good thing."
