Pacers Bikeshare program expanding with new e-bikes

The program will bring 250 new e-bikes to the Indianapolis area by next spring.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers Bikeshare program is adding more bikes to its fleet.

The nonprofit announced on Friday that it will be adding 250 new e-bikes throughout the city by next spring. The expansion plans hope to make it even easier for more people to get around Indianapolis without a car.

A federal grant worth $1.2 million and the Herbert Simon Family Foundation helped fund the expansion.

"We're continuing to create this incredible environment downtown, said Rachel Simon, president of the Herbert Simon Family Foundation. "And the bikeshare really allows easy accessibility to these amenities. "
