Homeless population offered medical resources free of charge during community event

The homeless population had the chance to meet with doctors and bring their pets to veterinarians all free of charge Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The homeless population had the chance to meet with doctors and bring their pets to veterinarians all free of charge Sunday.

The event was put on by the Street Outreach and Animal Response initiative or "SOAR."

It was at Horizon House, a place where homeless men and women can wash their clothes and take showers.

Organizers wanted to offer medical resources for people and pets in a non-traditional way.

A local vet volunteers her time to SOAR. She says it's changed how she views the person-to-pet relationship.

They held the event specifically for homeless men and women and the people in the I-70 mobile home park that's set to close soon.
