TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — One man was killed and a woman was injured after an early-morning crash in Tippecanoe County Saturday.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of the single-vehicle crash in the 8600 block of US Highway 52 South, just southeast of Lafayette, around 3:45 a.m. April 27.

Responding deputies found a man who was driving and a woman who was a passenger.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman had to be helped out of the vehicle before she was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The coroner's office identified the driver as 39-year-old Lester Glenn Fix II, from Clarks Hill, and listed his preliminary cause of death as "multiple injuries due to [the] motor vehicle crash."

The sheriff's office said the car was traveling north on US 52 when the driver swerved into a ditch before hitting a culvert, sending the car in the air.

According to the police, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.

All northbound lanes of US 52 were closed for roughly two hours, and the roadway was fully opened around 7 a.m.
