Wanted 16-year-old arrested in Indy robbery, carjacking; 2nd suspect still on the run

The teen had two active warrants out of Marion County for armed robbery and dangerous possession of a firearm.

IMPD officers arrested a 16-year-old, while another suspect fled the scene, after crashing a stolen vehicle near North Meridian and West 38th Streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old – already wanted on multiple warrants – is now under arrest for a robbery and carjacking in Indianapolis on May 5.

Officers were called Sunday to the 3200 block of Central Avenue, near East 32nd and North Meridian streets. Officers met two victims who said they had been carjacked. 

The victims told officers that two juveniles had asked for a ride. While driving them, they said the juveniles pulled out guns and ordered them out of the car. They said the juveniles also took a wallet and a phone from them.

Minutes later, officers spotted the stolen car near 30th and Illinois streets, and a chase ensued.

Officers said there was a short chase before the suspects crashed near a gas station at North Meridian and West 38th streets.

Officers caught a 16-year-old suspect at the scene, but a second suspect got away.

Officers said the 16-year-old they arrested had the stolen items still on him. IMPD said the teen also had two active warrants out of Marion County for armed robbery and dangerous possession of a firearm.
