15 people from Indiana facing federal indictment for gun trafficking

Court documents show that the individuals allegedly straw purchased firearms from six central Indiana dealers for resale elsewhere.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) helped bring down an alleged conspiracy to straw purchase dozens of firearms from at least six federally licensed dealers in central Indiana.

According to a release from the U.S. District Attorney's Office, 15 people have been charged with conspiring to make false statements during the purchase of a firearm and one or more counts of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.

Prosecutors have filed charges against the following people:

  • Daylen Bell, 24, Indianapolis
  • Jaylyn Lamont Crenshaw, 25, Indianapolis
  • Michaela Evan Day, 27, Indianapolis
  • Michael Glen Day, 23, Indianapolis
  • Davone Trae Eans, 24, Indianapolis
  • Kendall Rayshaun Ezell, 21, Indianapolis
  • Anthony Keith Jones, 24, Indianapolis
  • Isiah Thomas Keller, 21, Greenfield
  • Anthony James Morst, 24, Indianapolis
  • Caleb Morris Redman, 23, Indianapolis
  • Jordan Devon Ross, 24, Gary
  • Derrion Wisdom Scruggs, 23, Unknown
  • Michael Coreal Stubbs, 22, Indianapolis
  • Demetrius Andre Young, 24, Indianapolis
  • Jalen Charles Zimmerman, 23, Indianapolis

Court documents show that between November 2020 and April 2022, Isiah Keller, Michael Stubbs, Kendall Ezell, Michael Day and Anthony Jones all worked together to pay straw purchasers to buy guns from six central Indiana licensed firearms on their behalf.

A straw purchase is when a person legally allowed to buy a firearm purchases the weapon for someone else and lies to the dealer that the purchase is for them.

After the purchases were made, court documents allege that Keller, Stubbs, Ezell, Day and Jones resold the guns elsewhere.

Each individual faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
