22-year-old shooting victim dies after being pushed out of car near far east Indy laundromat

Police said the victim was initially treated in the 9900 block of East 38th Street but died at a hospital a short time later.

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a far east Indianapolis shooting turned deadly Tuesday night.

IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer said officers were called around 9:45 p.m. April 2 to the 9900 block of East 38th Street, just west of Mitthoefer Road, after an Indianapolis Fire Department engine crew on an unrelated incident near a laundromat reported that a car pulled up and a man was pushed out before it sped off.

The IFD crew discovered the man had been shot. The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 22-year-old Jaymion De'wan Beecher.

Weilhammer said detectives had not determined where the shooting took place, but it wasn't near the laundromat. No information on suspect or the car the man was pushed out of was available as of late Tuesday, he said.
