Plainfield - A line of severe storms made their way across the region Tuesday night.

In a flash, lightning and thunder filled the sky and rain filled the streets in Hendricks County and across the area. Storms rolled across west central Indiana with a fury.

"I used to live in Nebraska and it was similar to this, but I don't know, I haven't seen it like this in awhile," said one man.

Ominous clouds headed toward downtown Indianapolis.

"Watch them come. I have been watching this for an hour," said another as he watched the western sky.

At least one intersection was closed in Plainfield, just north of I-70, after rain poured down. Police blocked off a few others throughout the evening.

After a wet spring, the rainy weather is what many are coming to expect.

"Since we had a mild winter, we were in for it for summer," said Amanda Snyder as she waited out the rains at a gas station. "We didn't have that much snow, then it was like - BAM!"

Storms started around 8 pm

The first storms popped up around 8 p.m., bringing heavy rain, high winds and lightning to the state. Those storms were followed by a stronger line of storms that produced a tornado warning in parts of Morgan County and several severe thunderstorm warnings.

Reports of wind damage have been reported in Morgan, Putnam, Vermillion and Vigo counties. Trees and power lines are down in those areas. There was also a report of structural damage near Paragon, though those reports were not confirmed by the Morgan County EMA.

The heavy rains that have accompanied these storms - as much as two inches in some areas - has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Warning for parts of western Indiana, including Fountain, Parke, Putnam and Vermillion counties.
