Rain departs and cooler air moves in | May 8, 2024

The steadiest rain will end overnight and cooler air is the big weather story through the weekend.

INDIANAPOLIS — Showers and a few storms are in the forecast tonight but the threat of severe weather is mainly south of central Indiana.

The Live Doppler 13 Weather Team is tracking a cool change coming for the rest of the week and the start of the weekend.

 Forecast highs fall back into the lower 70s on Thursday and will only be in the 60s for Friday and Saturday.

Thursday starts with clouds and a few showers.

We are expecting some afternoon sunshine followed by a few pop-up showers and storms Thursday evening. Our Fever have their first and only home preseason game Thursday evening.

There will be a mix of sun and clouds on Friday with highs in the middle 60s. Mid 60s are also the forecast highs for Saturday. Saturday is Kids Day, Rookie Run and the Grand Prix. The month of May is in full swing. A stray shower is possible but there will also be lots of dry time for all of those outdoor events. It will be cool and breezy with highs in the 60s.

Slightly warmer air returns for the end of the weekend. Forecast highs on Mother's Day are in the lower 70s with a mix of sun and clouds.
