INDIANAPOLIS — Buckle-up for the likely first 70°+ day of the year in Indianapolis and for strong wind gusts emerging this afternoon.

At 10 a.m., temperatures are already in the 60s and will approach 70° by 1 p.m. This is despite an increase in mid/high level cloud cover. Off-setting less sunshine today, compared to Monday/Tuesday, is a strengthening south-southwest wind.

Unfortunately, sustained wind today 20-30 mph will gust to 40-55 mph from 1 p.m. to around 4 a.m. Thursday morning. This persistently strong wind ups the ante for power outages.

For now, west-central Indiana counties are under a Wind Advisory until 4 a.m. Thursday but area-wide will have strong gusts and it's possible this advisory may be extended to the east.
