INDIANAPOLIS — New Year’s Eve will be unseasonably mild. Temperatures will be on the rise through the evening, eventually climbing into the upper 50s to near 60°. Showers will be possible during the evening with rain likely after midnight.
Rain will continue through the first day of January 2022. A few thunderstorms will be possible with some heavy rain possible.
Rain potential will range from a half inch to one inch. Temperatures will fall throughout the day, reaching the low 40s by late day.
Rain will change to snow for some on Saturday evening. The better chance for snow will occur in north central Indiana where temperatures will fall faster.
Temperatures will continue to tumble on Sunday into the low 30s in the morning and then into the low 20s by late day.
It will be blustery, too, with snow showers. Winds will blow at 15 to 25 mph with swirling snow at times. Wind chills will be in the single digits by Sunday evening.
