Hurricane Harvey Update - 8/25/17

Hurricane Harvey is hitting Texas now as a category 4 hurricane.

At 7pm Indiana time Friday, Hurricane Harvey was upgraded to a category 4 hurricane. Wind speeds have increased to 130 mph. What won't increase is the forward motion of this dangerous storm. Due to that slow movement, the National Weather Service in warning of life threatening flooding. There will be hours of hurricane force winds, a storm surge that may reach 12 feet, tornadoes and heavy rain. This is a dangerous situation for Texas.

Hurricane Harvey will make landfall Friday evening, but it will bring heavy rain to Texas for days. Inland cities including San Antonio, Austin and Houston are in the path. There is the potential these cities have heavy rain from Harvey through early next week. There will be a large area of 12-24 inches of rain. Higher totals of 30"+ are also in the forecast.
