INDIANAPOLIS — Central Indiana is the middle of a little late August heat wave.

Today was the second day in a row in the 90s and we have two more in the forecast.

While we are dealing with the high heat and humidity, parts of Texas and Louisiana are preparing for a major hurricane.

Laura strengthened into a hurricane earlier today and is forecast to become a Category 3 storm before making landfall late Wednesday night into early Thursday.

The storm is tracking a bit more westward and this will give the storm time to strengthen over the warm Gulf of Mexico.

Right now the area from western Louisiana to eastern coastal Texas is under a hurricane warning.

Landfall looks to be in the area from Galveston to Lake Charles. Here is the latest track for Laura.
