INDIANAPOLIS — New nonstop flights have been announced from Indianapolis International Airport from March through July 2024.

“Some of the nonstop flights flying soon are new routes, some are resumptions and others are key schedule changes,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “But all are proof-positive that our airline partners are listening to Hoosiers and bringing them opportunities to connect with their preferred business and leisure destinations.”

West Coast flights

Delta Airlines will launch its Salt Lake City (SLC) nonstop flight on March 11, further enhancing Indy airport’s current reach toward the West Coast for business travel.

United Airlines also increased frequency for Hoosier travelers in July and August to San Francisco (SFO), adding a second daily flight.

Alaska Airlines has extended its schedule, offering twice daily service to Seattle (SEA) from May through October.

Starting Oct. 1, Alaska Airlines will also adjust its redeye return nonstop flight, giving travelers a late evening arrival instead. Indy-bound Alaska Airlines passengers can leave Seattle daily at either 9:45 a.m., arriving in Indy at 4:50 p.m., or at 3 p.m., arriving in Indy at 10:05 p.m.

Total Solar Eclipse flights

As Indiana will be right in the path of the much-anticipated Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, Sun Country Airlines has added special roundtrip flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Indianapolis just for the occasion.

This route is unique in that it connects both cities and allows eclipse travelers to enjoy the natural phenomena in Indy, returning to Minneapolis on the same day, according to airport representatives.

In addition, Southwest Airlines has two special flights that will allow passengers to view the eclipse in the air. Southwest’s Austin (AUS) to Indy nonstop flight 1721 will be directly in the path of totality. The Southwest Houston Hobby (HOU) to Indy nonstop flight 1734 will be mostly in the path.

Sun Belt flights

Frontier Airlines will launch a new seasonal nonstop flight on April 22 to Dallas (DFW), operating four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

On May 21, Frontier will also begin a new nonstop flight to New Orleans (MSY), operating three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Spirit Airlines will resume summer seasonal Myrtle Beach (MYR) nonstop flights in May.

The flight will start on May 9 and operate three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Starting on June 4, Southwest Airlines will increase service to Panama City (ECP) in June and July to daily flights. This is a change from the previous schedule, which was operated once per week.

East Coast flights

Frontier Airlines will also start nonstop flights to Philadelphia (PHL) starting May 21, launching a summer seasonal service, operating three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Frontier previously served the Philadelphia area and is resuming service with a new schedule.

“In the first six months of 2024, our airline partners have scheduled more capacity compared to the first six months of 2023, so we’re anticipating a strong travel year across the board,” Wurster said.

American, Delta, Frontier, Spirit, Southwest, Sun Country and United Airlines have all increased capacity, with more seats, nonstop flights, or both, according to IND.
