INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Indiana State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in the death of one man Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to a serious crash on I-65 southbound at the I-70 interchange around 7:30 p.m.

Police say one driver who stopped to help happened to be a nurse and was able to give information to the 911 operator. The nurse began CPR but the male driver, identified as 44-year-old David Lopez of Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Lopez's Ford pick-up truck ran off the roadway on the ramp from southbound I-65/I-70 to southbound I-65 and then struck a guardrail. The vehicle went airborne and the Lopez was ejected from the truck.

Just prior the the crash, the vehicle was reported as weaving all over the roadway.

Investigators believe alcohol could be a factor in this crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, which contributed to the fatal injuries.

I-65 southbound was closed for more than two hours while the crash was investigated.
