Tim McGraw rocks Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Caitlin Clark jersey

The country music legend walked on stage sporting a Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever jersey during his concert at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

INDIANAPOLIS — A country music legend paid tribute to Indiana's newest sports star Thursday night.

Tim McGraw walked on stage sporting a Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever jersey during his concert at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. McGraw is in Indianapolis as part of his Standing Room Only Tour.

Gainbridge Fieldhouse posted a video of McGraw walking out on stage in the jersey to a loud ovation, turning his back to the crowd and pointing to Clark's name and number on the back.

"@CaitlinClark22's biggest fan? @TheTimMcGraw had to sport @IndianaFever's newest star at his stop in Indy," the post read.

The Fever posted the same video with the message, "we like it, we love it," referencing the lyrics to a McGraw song.

The fashion statement was the latest showing of excitement that has swept central Indiana since the Fever drafted the University of Iowa star in Monday's WNBA draft.

Thousands of fans packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse to watch the draft live on Monday, and in the following days, Clark's jerseys and other merchandise have reportedly sold out. Ticket sales to the Fever's home games have also been brisk, with a limited number of tickets remaining available through the team, with prices rising on the secondary market.

The Fever have a preseason game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 10. The regular season starts May 14 in Connecticut, with Clark's regular-season home debut scheduled for May 16.
