Courting Caitlin: Noblesville tries to lure new Indiana Fever star to live in town

Even before the Indiana Fever made it official, Noblesville was already courting Caitlin Clark to call their community home.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — On Wednesday, for the first time, Caitlin Clark will talk with reporters at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a member of the Indiana Fever.

And while all of Indiana is excited to watch her play here, one particular community wants her to live there and call their town home.

Even before the Indiana Fever made it official, one Hoosier community was already courting Clark.

Starting during March Madness, the town of Noblesville created an account on X, formerly known as Twitter, and began posting messages on social media meant to score a new, high-profile neighbor.

"Hey 22, when you move to Noblesville, you're gonna need a house," one post said, featuring realtors in Noblesville.

"She's got to live somewhere. Why not my hometown? Indiana is a basketball state, and Noblesville is a basketball city," Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen said. "We think she belongs here in Noblesville."

The town of Noblesville is now taking its best shot at luring the Fever's first-round draft pick to live 35 miles north of Indy.

Their game plan?

Sell the heck out of their town of 72,000, from restaurants and bars to homes and history to how close she'll be to concerts at Ruoff Music Center if she lives there.

The "Welcome Home Caitlin" account, encouraging her to "become a townie," even touts where she can practice and strength train.

"You can work out with me, get strong and have fun," said a bodybuilder in one of the videos.

"Guess there's just one thing left to say - 'Welcome home 22,'" says another video, showing someone make a no-look shot into a basketball hoop.

"We have a social media campaign going on. You see me decked out in Fever gear. We're all in for 22," Jensen said. "I gave her last night on X, my personal cell phone number. I said I'm ready to show her around the town when she's ready to come!"

Jensen is clearly all-in on the marketing.

And although he is scouting competition from other Indiana cities, "There's other folks that are talking about it," Jensen admitted. "We think imitation's the best form of flattery."

He's convinced the full-court press from Noblesville will work.

"Absolutely I think it's gonna work," Jensen said. "I think this is a slam dunk for Caitlin Clark."
