GAME BLOG: Hopkins' two touchdowns leads Texans over Colts 20-17

The Houston Texans took sole possession of first place in the AFC South with a 20-17 win over Indianapolis Thursday night.

HOUSTON (WTHR) - The Houston Texans took sole possession of first place in the AFC South with a 20-17 win over Indianapolis Thursday night.

Colts lose a tough one.

11:15 p.m. - Watson ran for six yards on 2nd and 9, fumbling the ball at the end of the play, but it was determined he recovered the fumble, which was forced by Darius Leonard. A third-down run came up short, but the Texans were able to run out the clock on fourth down to seal the win and gain sole possession of the AFC South.

11:12 p.m. - Deshaun Watson completed an 11-yard pass to Will Fuller for a first down that appeared to all but seal the win for the Texans. Indianapolis used their second timeout after the catch, then stopped the clock for the final time after a 1-yard run on first down with 1:48 remaining in the game.

11:08 p.m. - The Texans ran the ball twice to get the clock down to the two-minute warning, but face a 3rd and 4 and the Colts holding onto two timeouts.

11:05 p.m. - Facing 4th and 7 from the Houston 47-yard line, the Colts lined up to go for it with exactly three minutes remaining in the game. Jacoby Brissett dropped back to pass and had time in the pocket, but eventually scrambled and came up less than a yard short of a first down, turning the ball over on downs.

10:49 p.m. - The Colts took a shot on 3rd and 4, but T.Y. Hilton couldn't quite hold onto a deep Jacoby Brissett pass and Indianapolis was forced to punt.

10:40 p.m. - DeAndre Hopkins' second touchdown of the game, a 30-yarder from Deshaun Watson, has put Houston back in front, 20-17 with 12:34 left in the game.


10:36 p.m. - Carlos Hyde picks up more than 30 to take the Texans across the 50.

10:32 p.m. - Hopkins picks up a first down for the Texans to get them out to the 25 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

10:30 p.m. - A good punt and the Texans will have to start at their 14.

10:27 p.m. - Brissett hit T.Y. Hilton in the hands, but he dropped it. Colts are forced to punt.

10:21 p.m. - Colts defense picks up their first sack and force the Texans to go for a field goal. It hit the upright and went through. Colts still lead 17-13.


10:19 p.m. - Will Fuller pulls in a 51-yard catch to start things for the Texans and they'll be at the Colts 24.

10:14 p.m. - Jonathan Williams runs it in for a touchdown. Colts lead 17-10.



10:12 p.m. - Hines is able to pick up another first down on 3rd and 2. Colts are at the Texans 15.

10:10 p.m. - Nyheim Hines finds room and takes it to about the 26.

10:09 p.m. - Colts are able to convert on 3rd down and short with Doyle taking them inside the Texans 40.

10:02 p.m. - Looking at a 52-yard field goal, the Texans went for it on 4th down and weren't able to convert. Colts ball.

10:01 p.m. - Will Fuller comes up with a big catch taking the Texans across the 50.

9:43 p.m. - Adam Vinatieri comes in for a 36-yard attempt to end the half and he hits it to tie things up 10-10.



9:42 p.m. - Ebron gets another putting the Colts on the Texans 30 with 20 seconds left in the half.

9:38 p.m. - Ebron is able to get the Colts a first down with under a minute to go in the half.

9:37 p.m. - Good news for the Colts two-minute drill as Ryan Kelly has returned.

9:32 p.m. - Colts defense blows coverage leaving DeAndre Hopkins open in the end zone for an easy touchdown. Texans now lead 10-7.


9:28 p.m. - Some bad news for the Colts as Ryan Kelly's knee now has him questionable to return.


9:26 p.m. - Texans are trying to work down the field with about 4 minutes left in the half and quickly move it to midfield.

9:22 p.m. - Jacoby Brissett takes it in for a touchdown to put the Colts up 7-3.


9:20 p.m. - Nyheim Hines is showing some speed and picks up a first down and then another six to get the Colts to the Texans' 5.

9:15 p.m. - After the Colts nearly recovered a fumble following a punt, Kenny Moore intercepted a Deshaun Watson pass and returned it to the Houston 42-yard line.


9:10 p.m. - Off the field, Amazon Prime NFL reporter Andrea Kremer tweeted breaking news that Andrew Luck and his wife Nicole are now the parents of a baby girl. Lucy Luck was born November 12, Kremer reported.


9:00 p.m. - After another exchange of punts, the Texans got on the board first, thanks to a 35-yard field goal by Ka'imi Fairbairn early in the second quarter.

8:23 p.m. - The Colts received the opening kickoff and started the game from their own 25-yard line after a touchback. Indianapolis moved close to midfield, but a third down sack of Jacoby Brissett forced a Colts punt.

T.Y. Hilton will play tonight when the Colts take on Houston.

Hilton was listed as active about an hour before game time. He has missed three games since injuring his calf in practice October 30.


Seven Colts players, including running back Marlon Mack, are on the inactive list for Thursday's game in Houston.


Mack had surgery Monday after breaking his hand in Sunday's game against Jacksonville. He has rushed for 862 yards and four touchdowns this season for Indianapolis.

Also ruled out are wide receiver Parris Campbell, cornerback Shakial Taylor and safety Khari Willis. Campbell broke his hand in Week 9 against Pittsburgh. Taylor injured his ankle in the Jacksonville game and Willis was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol for symptoms he showed after the game against the Jaguars last Sunday.

As of 5:30 p.m., the status of four players remained in question for the important AFC South meeting with the Texans, led Hilton.

Also questionable for the Colts were tight ends Mo Alie-Cox and Eric Ebron, but both were listed as active. Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin had been among those listed as questionable, but is inactive for the game.

Quarterback Chad Kelly and defensive tackle Trevon Coley are also inactive.

For the Texans, safeties Mike Adams and Justin Reid and cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. have been ruled out. Wide receiver Will Fuller V, safety Tashaun Gipson and cornerback Bradley Roby are questionable.
