Colts offseason workouts underway

"I mean, just to get back in the building, the offseason program is huge," said head coach Shane Steichen.

INDIANAPOLIS — If you can believe it, offseason workouts for the Indianapolis Colts have begun.

Just nine days away from the NFL draft, the team is preparing for the upcoming season.

Head coach Shane Steichen said the team was excited to get things started.

"I mean, just to get back in the building, the offseason program is huge," Steichen said. "To get in there and talk football with these guys again, you start from the ground up every year. So, you go through that stuff again, just reminders more than anything, and then you really start to dive into the details of the systems."

One of the first orders of business is that of quarterback Anthony Richardson's health. Steichen loves where he's trending.

"He's in a really good spot. Shoulder's feeling good, he should be good to go for practices, like we talked about earlier. He'll be out there throwing, but we'll limit, you know, we'll obviously monitor it, make sure we're smart with that, but he's in a really good place," he said.

Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. agreed.

"One thing that I've noticed is his confidence, like he's coming back," said Pittman. "Obviously, like he got hurt and had to watch all the other young QBs like CJ (Stroud) and Bryce (Young) and Will (Levis) play. I can see it in his eyes that he is ready and he is ready for people to start talking about him, too."

The Colts brought their guys back: Pittman, Kenny Moore, Grover Stewart as well as extensions for Zaire Franklin and DeForest Buckner. Continuity being the key, these guys know that winning games is the ultimate goal.

"It just shows faith, you know, and they really believe in the guys in this building," said Buckner. "They don't need to go outside the building to start over in certain positions and whatever it is. It just shows a belief in us and we all know what we need to do to take this team to the next level."
