DENVER (WTHR) - A Denver sportswriter is out of a job over what he wrote on Twitter about this year's Indianapolis 500 winner.

The Denver Post says Terry Frei is no longer employed by the newspaper. After Sunday's race, he tweeted, "Nothing specifically personal but I am very uncomfortable with a Japanese driver winning the Indianapolis 500 during Memorial Day weekend."

Frei later deleted the tweet and later released a lengthy apology, calling the post a "mistake."
