Colts tight end arrested on domestic battery allegations

Andrew Ogletree "picked her up and lifted her to about his shoulder height and body slammed her onto the ground," according to official court documents.

AVON, Ind. — Indianapolis Colts tight end Andrew Ogletree has been arrested on domestic battery allegations, officials said Friday.

According to a police department spokesperson, Avon police officers were called to a home Dec. 26 "regarding a physical domestic between an adult male and adult female."

Officers found a woman on scene, and she was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, the spokesperson said.

Officers filed an affidavit of probable cause in Hendricks County, and an arrest warrant was issued for one count of felony domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and one count of felony domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, the spokesperson said.

According to official court documents, the incident started when the woman was looking at Ogletree's phone and "noticed he had been cheating on her. She then took Ogletree's phone and broke it." Shortly after, Ogletree "picked her up and lifted her to about his shoulder height and body slammed her onto the ground."

The probable cause affidavit said Ogletree stood over the victim and told her "they will never believe," or words to that effect, after the altercation took place.

Ogletree, 25, turned himself in to the Hendricks County Jail Friday afternoon. He was released from the jail after posting bond Tuesday.

The Colts issued this statement late Friday:

"We are aware of the disturbing allegations involving Drew Ogletree. The team takes these matters seriously. We have notified the NFL and are in the process of gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time."

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Ogletree was placed on the commissioner's exempt list:

"The National Football League today placed Drew Ogletree of the Indianapolis Colts on the Commissioner Exempt List following an incident this week. Ogletree may not practice or attend games while on the list."
