Castroneves has captured the pole for Sunday's Toyota Indy 400 at California Speedway. Castroneves turned in a lap of 226-point-757 miles-per-hour to grab his fourth career pole and third of the season. Former I-R-L champion Kenny Brack was second, followed by Scott Dixon.
Castroneves goes into the race just 12 points ahead of runner-up Dixon in the series standings. Third-place Tony Kanaan is 14 points behind, Gil de Ferran 17 back and two-time defending series champion Sam Hornish Junior 41 behind. Kanaan qualified fifth. Hornish was tenth and de Ferran 12th.
