To assess damage, Moss recommends walking around the house, looking for missing siding, assessing for missing shingles, checking downspouts for dimples, and analyzing siding for cracks and damage.
In terms of reaching out to insurance companies, Moss comments, "What we see here recently is your insurance carrier will recommend having three, four, five, six contractors come out and take a look. I don't think that's necessary. My big thing, is just find the contractor that you feel really comfortable with. And from there, they'll give you their recommendation on if there's enough damage to warrant a claim. From there, you'll reach out to your insurance company."
