INDIANAPOLIS — The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse path of totality crosses through central Indiana — and it will be another 129 years before it happens again.
If you want to see it and celebrate it on April 8 at 3:06 p.m., here is a list of events for central Indiana:
13News is partnering with the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center to host Hoosiers in witnessing the upcoming total solar eclipse.
The event will take place Monday, April 8 at the fairgrounds, located at 1202 E. 38th St., near East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive on the north side of Indianapolis.
All guests will receive a complimentary pair of eclipse glasses.
The gates to the fairgrounds will open at 9 a.m., nearly four hours before the partial eclipse begins at 1:40 p.m. The maximum eclipse will occur at 3:07 p.m., and the partial eclipse will end at 4:23 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale to witness the phenomenon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMS will be the host of one of several NASA broadcast sites across the nation. NASA will broadcast live from the facility, and NASA experts will be on-hand to answer questions about the scientific phenomenon.
General admission tickets are $20 per person and include gate admission, infield parking and a pair of limited-edition solar eclipse glasses: "The Greatest Spectacles."
Kids 18 and under are admitted free with with a paying adult and will also get a pair of limited-edition solar eclipse glasses.
Three-day camping packages from April 6-9 in Lot 2 start at $125.

From noon to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April, 8, Butler University is hosting a free eclipse viewing experience at the Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium.
Here's what to expect on the day of the total solar eclipse:
- More than a dozen telescopes, all equipped with solar filters for safe observation
- Opportunities to safely witness solar activity, including sunspots
- The availability of eclipse glasses to ensure your viewing safety, while supplies last
- The presence of many scientific experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and guide you through the eclipse
- Eclipse veterans will provide guidance via a sound system, on information during the eclipse and understanding its essential elements.
- Engaging demonstrations showcasing various safe eclipse observation techniques.
- Fascinating planetarium shows
- A live stream of the eclipse
- National Center for Atmospheric Research solar scientists will be present with demonstrations and collecting data on the solar corona during the eclipse, as part of a multi-million dollar community science project funded by NASA and the NSF.
- Music will be played throughout the event.
- Food trucks will be available at the event.
- Free parking available at the Sunset Avenue parking garage and Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The White River State Park will hold its LUNACY! event.
The green space at White River State Park will have a weekend full of activities.
There will also be community activations and vendors with 40 food trucks gathering along the Old Washington Street Bridge.
Free solar eclipse glasses will be provided by IU Indianapolis and can be picked up at the park’s Visitor Center. The glasses are first come, first serve.

The Indiana State Museum will host a Total Solar Eclipse Celebration.
People will learn about the total solar eclipse, how to safely view this phenomenon and enjoy sun, Earth and moon hands-on activities and demonstrations throughout the day.
Those attending will be able to find a spot on the front lawn to view the eclipse.
People can also register for the VIP Event, Solarbration, including access to the balcony with a direct line of sight to the total solar eclipse, a bar with specialty drinks and cocktails, and eclipse-themed hors d’oeuvres.
Newfields will mark the day with its Total Eclipse of the Art event.
Attendees will enjoy a music festival, food and festivities. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the celebration concludes at 6 p.m.
Parking at Newfields is sold out for Total Eclipse of the Art. Guests who have not purchased parking already are encouraged to use rideshare services or bike. Nearby neighborhood parking will be limited.

The eclipse event at Conner Prairie will allow people to hear from Hoosier astronaut Mark Brown. He will talk about what it was like living and working in space.
People will also get to see a specialized dance performance created to reflect the theme light and shadow from the dance group UZIMA.

There will be giveaways, activities, and festivities to celebrate the historic event.

People can experience the total solar eclipse with the animals at the Indianapolis Zoo.
The zoo will have extended hours Monday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free protective eyewear will be available, while supplies last.
Attendees will get to learn how animals respond to changes between day and night.

Zoo parking on April 8 will be $30 for regular parking and $50 for extra-large vehicles. Parking is free for members visiting the zoo and $10 if not visiting the zoo.
There will be a special eclipse-themed food menu, including Moon Pies, Astro POP-corn and the Eclipse Burger.
Hoosier National Forest
Hoosier National Forest will begin accepting reservations for campsites on Jan. 12. The reservation portal will have a phased opening beginning at 7 a.m.
The Forest Service said all developed campground sites will be by reservation-only from March 29 through April 10. That's because of the high number of visitors expected for the eclipse. This includes sites that are traditionally first-come, first-served.
This first phase of reservations includes BA Services-managed campgrounds at Hardin Ridge, Indian-Celina Lakes and Tipsaw Lake Recreation Areas.
Later phases will include reservation-only sites at Blackwell, Hickory Ridge, Shirley Creek, Youngs Creek, Saddle Lake, German Ridge and Buzzard Roost campgrounds. An announcement on those opening will be made on the Hoosier National Forest Facebook page.
Boone County
Whitestown is hosting a Solar Jam on Monday, April 8 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Main Street Park (4286 S. Main St. Whitestown, IN 46075) for an afternoon of an unforgettable experience for all ages, featuring a total solar eclipse viewing.
A limited number of eclipse glasses will be provided to attendees at Solar Jam, so be sure to arrive early to secure them.
During the phases of the totality, enjoy tasty food from a selection of food trucks and live music from Vinyl Escape Band. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the event.
Solar Jam is free to attend and open to the public.
Clay County
The Girl Scouts of Central Indiana are hosting a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Camp Na Wa Kwa in Poland.
The event takes place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and tickets are $8 per person.
Decatur County
The Decatur County Fairgrounds is hosting festivities in Greensburg April 6-8.
Camping is available, and there will be music, vendors, food trucks and family-friendly activities all weekend.
Delaware County
Meg's Country Celebration is hosting a 3-day eclipse experience April 6-8 in Eaton, Indiana, at 4700 E. County Road 800 N.
There will be workshops, line dancing, bunny and baby chick yoga, a costumed quarter marathon, church at the farm, an outdoor movie, award-winning live music by Long Haul Paul and national tourist artist and songwriter Derek Jones and the 50 South, unique vendors and pop-up thrift shops, food, and a wedding renewal ceremony during the peak of the eclipse.

Beginning Friday, March 8, several businesses throughout Westfield will have certified solar eclipse viewing glasses available for pickup during regular business hours. Glasses are free and limited to four per family while supplies last. Residents are asked to show proof of address.

The City of Carmel is hosting a Total Eclipse Viewing Party at Civic Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 8.
The event will feature music throughout the day from local artists including The Bishops, Marielle Sellars, the Indiana Wind Symphony and DJ Jesse White. There will also be food and beverage vendors onsite.
Midwest GeoSciences Group has built a one-of-a-kind telescope for safely witnessing the anticipated Total Solar Eclipse on April 8 and in a partnership with the City of Carmel, will bring the telescope to the city’s official viewing event at Carmel City Hall.
People can witness the eclipse from anywhere around the world and without looking directly at the sun, thanks to a special viewing station that will be set up to capture the image of the sun and then transmit it on a live streaming platform that will be shared both on the ground and across the globe.

Stuckey Farm is hosting Total Eclipse of the Farm from April 6-8.

Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield is hosting a solar eclipse event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy food and drinks from food trucks, a concert with the 1985 Band, inflatables and total darkness from the eclipse. Grand Universe will have viewing telescopes on-site to educate attendees about the solar eclipse and its history. Special guest, Dr. Mark SubbaRao, director of NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, will also be onsite.
Tickets will be available for pre-purchase only and are now $25 per standard-sized vehicles. Eclipse viewing glasses are included in the admission price. Overnight RV and camper parking will be available for $100 for Sunday to Tuesday in a designated parking lot on Grand Park Sports Campus; there will be no overnight parking available for non-RVs/campers.

Carmel American Legion Post 155 is hosting an eclipse watch party on Monday, April 8 called "I Got Mooned."
People will be allowed to stake claim to their piece of land on the 2+ acres of green space beginning Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m.
There will be live music, food, refreshments and adult beverages available for purchase. There will also be 50/50 raffles, merchandise for sale and more.
All proceeds will go to help Carmel and Hamilton County veterans and their families, as well as the Carmel and White River Rugby Clubs.
Hancock County
Greenfield Parks & Recreation is opening four parks as viewing areas on Monday, April 8.
The main hub of activity will be at Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., from noon to 6 p.m. There will be food trucks, a DJ, Singo, Cosmic cookie decorating, a panel of planetary science experts, and more. The first 4,000 people will get free eclipse glasses.
Three other parks will host events:
- Beckenholdt Park (2770 N. Franklin Road) and will feature the Brandywine Wind performing in the band shelter there. Parks staff will be on hand with FREE Eclipse glasses for the first 2,000.
- Brandywine Park (900 East Davis Road) and the local soccer club and fast pitch softball will be selling concessions and giving away free cclipse glasses to the first 2,000 people.
- Riley Park (300 Apple Street) will have parks staff on had to give out free eclipse glasses to the first 2,000 people.
Hendricks County
Hendricks County announced a series of locations where people can enjoy the eclipse.
There are two free events to the public:
- Race to the Eclipse – Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Brownsburg – Events include a 5K run/walk for a fee, live entertainment by a local band, children’s activities and two nitro dragsters speeding down the track at 300 mph when total darkness ensues.
- Solar Eclipse 2024: Military Tribute – The Shops at Perry Crossing, Plainfield – This event will offer space to all branches of military, local recruiters and veteran resources, as well as an activity to celebrate local heroes. Also enjoy children’s activities and plenty to do throughout the day including shopping, dining and other entertainment at the mall.

- Total Solar Eclipse at Beasley’s Orchard – Cost is $7 a person for a prime viewing spot on the Danville farm where you can also enjoy live music, educational components about the eclipse, games, family entertainment and more.
- Experience the Eclipse Live! – Cost is $25 a person to take in this once-in-a-lifetime event in the brand-new Hendricks Live! entertainment venue in Plainfield. Enjoy their arts center event space and the adjoining outdoor terrace with artistic and educational activities planned for all ages.
- Eclipse Viewing Party at Murphy Aquatic Park – For $5 a person, your registration includes bounce houses for the kids, live music, food trucks and more in Avon.
- Ms. B’s TotaliTEA – Cost is $45 a person for a unique experience including a themed tea party both inside and on Ms. B’s Teas outdoor patio in Clayton. Limited space is available, and everyone will have an outdoor spot during the eclipse.
Henry County
The Girl Scouts of Central Indiana are hosting a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Camp Ada in Spiceland.
The event takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets are $8 per person.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp-Resort Indianapolis East in Knightstown is hosting Friday night games, crafts and a movie leading up to Saturday morning when everyone will wake Yogi Bear up from hibernation.

The Boy Scouts will be holding a Solar Eclipse Camporee at the Maumee Scout Reservation on April 7 and 8. The cost is $25 per participant.

Johnson County
On Thursday, April 4, Franklin College invites guests of all ages to campus to enjoy "The Exceptional Totality of 2024: A Once in a Lifetime Celestial Marvel," an enlightening evening with Franklin College Associate Professor of Physics Arbin Thapaliya, Ph.D.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with appetizers provided in the Johnson Atrium of the Napolitan Student Center. At 6:30 p.m., guests are invited to convene to the second-floor Branigin Room for the lecture by Thapaliya. The evening will provide the opportunity for guests to participate in space demonstrations and virtual reality experiences, as well as use solar telescopes. Thapaliya will also provide interesting facts, dispel misconceptions and pose questions to guests regarding the upcoming eclipse. Guests will also learn information regarding the impact of weather conditions on an eclipse and ways to maximize the totality time of the eclipse.
The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and requires registration.

City-owned parking lots in Greenwood will have special event parking rates associated with them for the eclipse. The city will be instituting a fee of $20 per vehicle for the parking lots listed below only on Monday, April 8:
- City Center Park: 415 Lincoln St.
- Craig Park: 10 E. Smith Valley Road, lots off Smith Valley Road and Washington Street
- Freedom Park: 850 W. Stop Road
- Greenwood Community Center: 100 Surina Way, lot between Community Center and Police Department on Surina Way
- Old City Park: Lot located off Surina Way
- Parking garage: 520 S. Meridian St.
- Parking lot located between McKinley Street and Washington Street, north of Main Street
- Parking lot located between Motors Plus and Bethel Chin Baptist Church on Main Street
Portable toilets will be available at the listed locations. Lots open at 6 a.m. on the morning of the eclipse. No oversized vehicles or RVs will be permitted. Parking lot fees will be lifted once all phases of the eclipse are finished.
Marion County
The City of Lawrence has a series of events.
Lawrence will have a great view of the eclipse and also has some fun events planned around it.

Monroe County
In Bloomington, the largest event will be the Hoosier Comic Celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. on April 8. It will take place inside Memorial Stadium and feature a performance by singer, songwriter and actress Janelle Monáe, a spoken-word performance by actor William Shatner of “Star Trek” fame and a speech by former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, the first American woman of color to travel in space.

Jenkins Forever Farm is holding an eclipse event from noon until 6 p.m. on April 8. There will be music, drinks and even a chance for overnight camping.
The non-profit animal sanctuary in Edinburgh is home to over 100 animals spanning 15 different species.

Vigo County
Central Christian Church in Terre Haute is hosting Solar Fest.
The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tickets are $20 per car. The event includes music, games, educational activities, storytelling, a bounce house, food trucks and raffles.
Wayne County
Thousands of people are expected to attend the four-day/three-night Eclipse & More camping and entertainment extravaganza at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.
Festivities include educational eclipse and astronomy sessions, led by Dr. Tony Whitmore, a retired NASA scientist; performances by The Michael Jackson Experience, The Elton John Experience and a Kiss Tribute Band; zip-lining; rock-climbing; drone show; fireworks display; giant kite demonstration; Frisbee golf; virtual reality expo; and a golf cart show.
The expenses for camping, inclusive of most activities, vary between $600 and $1,000 based on the selected campsite.
There are several other eclipse-related activities and festivities planned throughout Wayne County, including public stargazing with an Indiana University East astronomy professor; planetarium shows and hands-on science activities at Earlham College; Chardon Polka Band and beer garden; juried art competition and artisan market; a moonlight parade; nocturnal plein air; and fireworks.
Also, there are candlelight tours at the Levi Coffin House, a sunset stroll in Glen Miller Park, and a 5K run/walk.
