FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) — Former Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi filed paperwork Friday morning to run for Congress in Indiana's 5th Congressional District.
"I've been thinking, writing and podcasting about the issues facing our country for years. Some in government are attempting to shred the fundamental ideals and tenets of the Constitution and we can't allow that to happen. It's time to get back into the fight. We need people with strength and courage to fight every day for the values and ideals we hold dear," Brizzi said.
Brizzi served as Marion County Prosecutor from 2002 until 2010, before going back into private practice.
Brizzi joins a crowded list of 17 other candidates running in the Republican primary.
Five candidates filed to run on the Democratic ballot.
The deadline to register as a candidate ended at noon on Friday.
