Constitutional amendment aims to impose term limits on Congress

The proposal would apply to members of both the House and Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) — Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Rep Francis Rooney have introduced a constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on members of Congress.

The proposal would apply to members of both the House and Senate.

The proposal restricts senators to two six-year terms and House members to three two-year terms.

As of now, both House of Representative and Senate members can serve as many terms as they are elected.

In April 2018, the president in favor of term limits for Congress.
