WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) - The White House has gone pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“During October, we raise awareness and encourage people to take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer,” First Lady Melania Trump said in an issued statement.
The above tweet from White House Social Media Director Dan Scavino, Jr. included a statement from President Trump that read, in part:
"As we observe National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Nation joins in solidarity with those who are currently battling breast cancer and we remember those we have lost to the disease. Too many AMericans endure the pain and heartbreak of losing a family member or friend to breast cancer. Memories of our loved ones, and their courage in the face of suffering, drive us to find a cure."
Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama also lit the White House pink for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
