CHICAGO (WTHR) – A Jimmy John's delivery driver was caught on camera tampering with a customer's drink before handing it over.
The delivery guy is seen on camera holding a box and a drink. As he waits for someone to come to the door, he puts his mouth on the customer's drink.
Homeowner Emily Brems said her 12-year-old son was the one that made the disturbing discovery, according to NBC 4.
“My son came upstairs and said, ‘Just so you know the delivery guy licked your drink,’” Brems said, adding that the family did not eat the food and immediately contacted the store.
A statement released to NBC by the Jimmy John's franchisee said:
“The behavior seen in this video is not consistent with the standards we expect from our employees and we have taken appropriate action with the individual involved. We’ve formally retrained our employees on food safety and have made it right with the customer.”
The store added that Brems was being refunded for her order, but Brems said she has not yet received a refund, according to NBC. She also said she received an email suggesting the employee could get his job back with her blessing. Jimmy John's did not say if the employee was fired.
