When and where to get food assistance across central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — As the COVID-19 crisis continues, food insecurity has become an issue for families all across the state.

Gleaners Food Bank offers several locations across a number of Indiana counties, where individuals and families who need food assistance can go for help.

Below is a list of dates and places where you can go (separated by county) to get the supplies you need.

Marion County

  • Gleaners Community Cupboard: 3737 Waldemere Ave. Indianapolis

If you are a Marion County resident who is unable to leave their home, you can call (317) 742-9111 or text 55433 Gleaners for assistance.

Bartholomew County

When food pantries will be open:

  • April 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cummins SE 800 E Third St. Seymour
  • May 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cummins FSP 1460 National Rd, Columbus

Boone County

When food pantries will be open:

  • April 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Senior Mobile Pantry (age 55+) at 1205 N SR 75, Thorntown
  • May 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Western Boone Jr/Sr High School located at 1205 N SR 75, Thorntown
  • May 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Senior Mobile Pantry (age 55+) located at 1205 N SR 75, Thorntown

Decatur County

When food pantries will be open:

In order to keep up with demand, Gleaners said it needs millions of dollar in donations to buy supplies. Individuals who wish to help, are asked to donate money so Gleaners can purchase the supplies needed across different areas.
