INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Christmas is coming a little early for 300 families on Indianapolis' near east side.
With the vast majority of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, the holidays can be financially stressful for some.
But Westminster Neighborhood Services is aiming to ease that economic burden for hundreds of families in the area.
They're providing Christmas baskets so that people can focus on enjoying their time with family.
The nonprofit has assembled baskets to include:
- Two reusable bags full of groceries, with fixings for a holiday dinner
- One reusable bag of hygiene items
- Two toys per child in the household
- Hats, gloves, socks, and underwear for everyone in the household, including adults
Volunteers have come together for a total of about 24 hours to assemble the Christmas cheer that will reach nearly 700 children in the area.
