Wayne Township employees kick off new school year with back-to-school dance party

Administrators led district employees in a dance party to get ready for the upcoming school year.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Going back to school can be a drag for students and teachers. But Wayne Township administrators are turning that around.

At the district's opening day event for employees Wednesday, they brought a dance party to Ben Davis High School to get everyone ready for the 2018-2019 school year that begins Thursday.

Westlake Elementary School library and media specialist Shawnta Barnes tweeted the video.

The high school band kicked off the day with a performance, but after that, it was up to faculty and staff. The district's administration danced to a mash-up of songs including classics "Gonna Make You Sweat," "Tricky," "Tootsy Roll" and "U Can't Touch This."

Wayne Township Superintendent Jeff Butts, his cabinet, school board members, teachers, the Wayne Township Education Foundation, bus drivers, cafeteria staff and custodians were all on hand to join the fun.
