INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - We got our first look Friday at Omar Lopez, 20, the man accused in a deadly hit and run crash.

Police say Lopez hit Annastaisha Sandlin on the south side last Friday and drove off.

Officers caught up with him earlier this week. He made an initial appearance in court on Friday.

IMPD detectives told us early Thursday morning that the search for Lopez was over.

A warrant was previously out for his arrest, but police were able to track him down and he was taken into custody Wednesday night.

Lopez is accused of a hit-and-run on the city's south side that killed Annastaisha Sandlin while she was riding her bicycle earlier this week.

Investigators say Sandlin got a flat tire on her way home from work. She was just a fee blocks from home, walking the bike when she was hit from behind by an SUV.

He was arrested in April and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, OWI with a controlled substance in his body and illegal consumption.

Lopez was released from jail and was scheduled to be in court next week.

Sandlin biked back and forth to work, 20 miles each day. Her employer closed Wednesday so everyone could attend the funeral.
