INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - One of Louisiana's most wanted fugitives is back behind bars in Indiana because he was stopped for driving a semi trailer in the far left lane Thursday.

When an Indiana State Trooper stopped 39-year-old Johnny Grant of Port Allen, Louisiana for breaking Indiana's left lane law, he found Grant had three outstanding arrest warrants back home.

Sergeant Brent Alspach was patrolling I-65 on the south side of Indianapolis Thursday morning when he stopped Grant. "I understand sometimes hazards or other situations require a semi to move into the third lane," Alspach expained. "But this one stayed out there for a very long time with no efforts to move back over."

Grant was wanted for violation of parole and a long list of drug charges.

He surrendered and was taken to jail in Indianapolis and will be extradited back to Louisiana.

In the state of Indiana, it is illegal for a semi tractor-trailer to drive in the far left lane on a highway with more than two lanes.
