Purdue, Elanco research facility announced at summit

Officials said the facility will focus on improving health of people, animals, plants and the planet.

INDIANAPOLIS — There was a big announcement from Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb Thursday as he kicks off a global economic summit.

A new Purdue-Elanco research facility is coming to Indianapolis. It's being built in the newly-created OneHealth Innovation District.

The facility will focus on improving health of people, animals, plants and the planet.

Holcomb said it's something Hoosiers can be proud of.

“The research facility will propel the state’s vision to anchor our regional technology hub as a key addition to the OneHealth Innovation District aimed at accelerating collaborative innovation in our life sciences,” Holcomb said.

Purdue University President Mung Chiang said the school's presence in Indianapolis will grow beyond the planned research facility and the upcoming launch of Purdue Indianapolis.

“In the coming years, all programs at Purdue will find homes throughout our state’s capital city,” Chiang said in the release. “Human health, animal health, plant health will be jointly advanced by the nation’s leading companies and our state’s top-ranked university.”

The summit continues through Sunday, with partners from across Europe and Asia attending. Holcomb said this year's summit highlights a "record-breaking" year in economic partnerships for the Hoosier State.
