AVON, Ind. (WTHR) — There are new developments in the search for missing Avon mother Najah Ferrell. Police believe they are on the right track with the latest developments including locating her missing car.
Paula Gholson is Ferrell’s mother who knew something was wrong right away when her daughter failed to call her since they speak on the telephone every single day.
“It's like a nightmare to me. It's so surreal,” said Gholson.
But not even the nightmare of having a daughter missing for more than a week can shatter Gholson's faith. She and her family prayed for breakthroughs locating Najah Ferrell who somehow mysteriously disappeared.
Gholson said, “We speak life. We are going to stand on life. In my faith I have to. I am exercising my faith."
The breakthroughs came in a couple of ways.
Around 1:30am Tuesday a metro officer on Indy's northwest side located Ferrell's 2018 Nissan Altima in the parking lot at Studio Movie Grill. The car was in a parking spot in the out-lot of the property not far from the McDonald’s restaurant. Investigator want to hear from anyone who works or shops in that area who may have witnessed someone driving the Nissan. Detectives are checking all of the nearby businesses to see if security cameras may have captured video that would help.
Avon police also located some of Ferrell’s personal belongings along I-65 near Lafayette Road. The area is full of brush, trees and woods which may offer more clues in the case.
Tuesday afternoon, the lead detective working to find Najah, got help from one of the pilots for Indiana State Police. They flew over several northwest side areas to search for clues from the air. Investigators wanted to check the area from the air before spring time brings more vegetation.
The 30-year-old mother of two, who also serves as a foster parent, was seen last by her fiance and children last Friday reportedly headed to work. The same day she was scheduled to pick up another foster child for the weekend but never showed up. Najah’s mother knew even more so that something was wrong because her daughter would never let down a child expected a foster stay.
“It's painful because I love my child,” Gholson said.
While urging people to come forward with information Najah's mother shared she never imagined a loved one coming up missing.
“This has happened to me and I thought only on crime shows. this is real this hits home," she said.
