Man killed when car crashes into tree on Indianapolis' northeast side

The crash happened shortly after midnight along Fall Creek Road near Fort Harrison State Park, just outside Lawrence city limits.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a single-car crash on Indianapolis' northeast side early Tuesday.

The crash happened shortly before 12:15 a.m. Feb. 20 in the 9300 block of Fall Creek Road, just north of Fort Harrison State Park and near East 71st Street.

In a statement, police said a preliminary investigation indicated a white Pontiac car was driving southwest when the passenger-side tires left the road and the driver overcorrected before crashing into trees.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD accident investigators responded to the scene to begin their investigation. The Marion County Coroner's Office will identify the man once family has been notified.
