KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) - The popular PASTArrific Italian restaurant is a total loss after a fire broke out overnight.

A passerby noticed the fire around 3 a.m. Flames were visible as crews arrived and they weren't able to put it out until 7 a.m.

"It's hard to put into words but I'm more worried about the our families of our employees who've been with us for many, many years. Those are my prime concern and I was told that they said the best thing is no life is lost and that's where we begin," chef Cynthia Yazdani said.

While the main fire was out around 7 a.m., firefighters were still on scene soaking the structure to dampen any potential hot spots.

The building is considered a total loss.

No word yet what caused the fire. That's partly because investigators can't yet go into the building. There are heating units on the roof, and the structure's integrity has been compromised after damage from the fire and being soaked by water.

At last check, no one had been reported injured.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
