Officers rescue injured bald eagle in Indianapolis

The eagle had minor injuries but was not able to fly.

IMPD officers helped rescue a bald eagle in the 4300 block of Lafayette Road on Friday, April 26, 2024.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metro Police Department and animal control officers are credited with rescuing an injured bald eagle.

Early April 26, officers from the IMPD Northwest District worked with animal control to rescue the eagle in the 4300 block of Lafayette Road, near Georgetown Road.

The eagle had minor injuries but was not able to fly.

It is now at a specialized rehab facility in the hopes it will be able to be released.
