DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - An overnight police chase ended in a deadly crash on State Road 28 near Royerton Thursday.
According to the Delaware County Coroner's Office, Devan A. Twilley, 25, from Muncie was killed when he was ejected in a rollover crash near the intersection of SR 28 and Walnut Street.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, the chase started in Gaston shortly after 1 a.m. when a woman called 911 from the bathroom of her home on Sycamore Street reporting somebody had broken in and was still in the house.
Gaston police located the suspect and tried to stop him, but he drove south on CR 600 West then east on SR 28. Sheriff's deputies used a tire deflation device near CR 400 West and the vehicle kept heading east toward Royerton.
Deputies say the driver was traveling at high speed when he lost control and flipped several times.
Gaston Police are still investigating the report of the break-in while the sheriff's office is investigating the fatal crash.
The coroner will conduct an autopsy on Twilley.
